I love Christmas. It’s really my favorite holiday of the year. I love the music, the lights, the parties, the decorations and even the shopping. And people are just a bit nicer than other times in the year too.
We always cut our own tree and I look forward to it every year. Scott and I suit up and take a dog and head off to pick it out. This year it was so warm and a bright sunny day made our job easy. We found our tree in just 10 minutes. Not too big but the shape is lovely.
This was Kora’s first year helping pick the tree. She had a great time meeting people running and exploring
I love decorating the tree. We don’t have many store bought ornaments any more except a few we saved from the first Christmas Scott and I shared together. Most was made or gifted to us and is a reminder of the person or a time we shared with them. Here are my favorites.
This was a gift from Janet Seymour. She is my brother-in-law Larry’s sister and we lost her last year to cancer. She was a wonderful woman, a strong believer and well loved by many. I love snowmen and this was such a clever ornament made from a light bulb I have always enjoyed it hanging on the tree.
This one I bought on a shopping trip with my good friend Christie at a little Christmas shop we found in the summer. We had a wonderful time and I love this little guy.
Did I mention I love snowmen.
This little snowman memorializes our lovely Beta we lost this year. We still miss her everyday.
We have many dog ornaments, this is just a sampling.
We have a few that celebrate our hobbies.
Some are memories of a treasured place like my friend Judy’s cottage where I have spent many summers listening to loons on the lake at night while drifting off to sleep.
And of course best of all the reason for the season.
Our tree is an expression of the years of our life together, of those we love, those we remember, joys, sorrows, memories, belief. It reflects the season but it also reflects who we are. We wish you, hope, joy, peace this Christmas season.
